ABOUT
Patrick Terenchin, executive director of Fomoboy, has been working in the art business for over 25 years. Our services range from assisting the beginning collector or seasoned art connoisseur to the most experienced art dealer or interior designer.
We offer art advisory services to private collectors and to everyone in the art industry. We work with art collectors, art dealers, auction companies, appraisers, framers, and conservators and are available to private, public, and non-profit institutions.
Patrick began selling in New York City’s Chelsea Flea Market in 1998, a place where interesting objects attracted interesting people. There, he met, befriended and learned firsthand from the dazzling array of brilliant, curious, dynamic and generous world-class collectors, dealers, artists and experts that New York City offered. It was an amazing time and a legendary place: a confluence of talent, skill, energy and enthusiasm that will never be replicated.
By 2005 art collecting and resale was his exclusive area of interest. It continues to be so today.
HISTORY
20 years ago, art became our focus because in the end, art is the most mysterious of all things imaginable. It’s one of the most improbable. And it’s one of the most necessary and indispensable for enriching our daily lives.
It asks more questions than it answers. And so should you. You may not be able to answer them all, but ask anyway.
Who made this and why? What were the circumstances in which this was made? How did this end up in the gallery, home or museum where it is today? Why is this interesting or important to people? Why does this have a specific monetary value?
Why would someone want to own this rather than just look at it?
The above questions are so basic that they’re sometimes dismissed. Ironically, they’re among the most important ideas to explore when you consider collecting a work of art. We would be delighted to discuss, and offer answers, to anyone interested in learning about the pieces in our collection. It’s one of the things we would love to assist you with as you navigate the often confusing and mysterious world of art collecting.
